I am amazed that there is such a leadership vacuum not only in America, but throughout Western civilization. From an origin that included the advances by Greek and Roman culture and society, to the British, French, Dutch, Spanish, and German contributions over the past 1000 years it confounds me that we in the West are so content to just watch it all blow away. Now this is an over-simplification, of course; as we are actually complicit in our demise. We have completely lost touch with our history. Book sellers complain that no one reads the classics anymore, so why print them? We have also subscribed to two of the largest phantoms of Progressive promise towards utopia: Multiculturalism and Political Correctness. Both are cultural rot and serve to only create subservience by the host to the guests, as can be evidenced by recent statements made by Germany and France over their gradual walk-back from those exact 2 dopplegangers. What Mr. D'Souza so masterfully illustrates is how our silent slumber in light of the empty promises made by Progressives (a dubious moniker at best, for we know not what we are 'progressing' towards nor why we want such 'progress' to begin with) has lulled our society into forgetting what America is really about, and who we really are as a people. This is critical to the survival of not only America as a world power, but to our way of life as well. Those Progressives that slander America with false accusations (Ward Churchill), trumped up charges (Noam Chomsky), or selective manipulation of facts (Howard Zinn) are purposely misleading and through constant pressure and agitation (Bill Ayers) through such fields as education, have infiltrated and spread their vile 'spirit of 1968' onto the American lexicon, forever tainting-and, in my opinion, poisoning- the proverbial water well that is American culture and proper standing in the world.Mr. D'souza performs an excellent, thorough, and enjoyable (if not factually disheartening that we have allowed ourselves to be duped) book that is desperately needed at this critical time in our nation's life. In the leadership vacuum that is the 21st Century, I find it ironic that not only is a foreigner one of our greatest leaders (Mr. D'souza), but he is also one of our staunchest defenders of all that is good and right with America.Thank you Mr. D'souza for your most excellent work in writing this book, and in defending our Great Land!God Bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America!
