The author possesses superior writing skills; she is precise and includes in it all the relevant information needed for a college level Latin American History course. There is no no academic pedantry in it, so common in most other history textbooks (especially US History college level textbooks that are full of minutia that no one cares about or is relevant in today's world). The textbook is witten in an English reading level that anyone can understand (without the need of an on-line thesaurus or dictionary) and with the relevance and up to date information, as well as with new historical approaches and perspectives that the 21st century education of history demands today. It includes insightful observations and connections regarding the forgotten minorities of most historians when writing about Latin American History and US History: women, Native Americans, Africans, and other racial and ethnic groups in Latin America. This book is 100% recommended by this reviewer and I STRONGLY and RESPECTFULLY recommend and request from the author and the publishing company to IMMEDIATELY translate this into SPANISH so that it can also be used by bilingual (English-Spanish) institutions of higher learning and by all Latinos in the United States and the world interested in learning more about one of the fastest growing regions of the world today. My University is in desperate need of this textbook in the Spanish language. Thank you. Ángel Quiñones-Cuadrado, M.A.(2)
