This book is a fun read. Early on in the book I felt like I knew Joe and his two boys, Quinn and Enzo. Then they become like family and I looked forward to the photos at the beginning of most chapters. Joe takes you along with him on the adventure of a lifetime. This isn’t the kind of book you can’t put down. After reading about half of it I saved the rest for reading on plane trips, and finished it a few weeks later. Most chapters are complete articles that don’t leave you hanging, but they do leave you hungry to see what happens next. Joe is a true story teller. You don’t have to be a cyclist to enjoy the book, or a dad or a son, but any of those will make it even more enjoyable. There’s a two page rant on the goofy outfits that cyclists wear, that will leave you laughing out loud, and even more so if you are one who wears lycra shorts and bright jerseys. There’s also a little known fact for cyclists and hikers camping in US national parks that’s well worth many times the price of the book, and may make you want to arrive at your next national park under leg power. This book is relatively free of profanity, especially the real bad words, and should be safe for father and son reading. Of course fathers should always check it out for themselves first. I hope that you’ll enjoy reading it and be motivated to go on an adventure.
