This advanced fully automatic three-stage 50 Amp battery charger is ideal for charging all types of 12 Volt lead-acid batteries ( Flooded / Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) / Gel Cell) from a 120 V, 60 Hz or 230 V, 50 Hz AC source. By means of a DIP switch setting, conversion to a two-stage algorithm is possible to charge batteries connected to a DC load (DC UPS). The unit can also be used as a DC Power Supply. Features include overload, short-circuit and over-temperature protection. The unit allows charging of up-to 2 separate battery banks. Can be used as a power supply or DC UPS when used in conjunction with a battery. Can charge 2 banks of batteries simultaneously, no isolator necessary. Voltmeter and Ammeter for monitoring. Fan cooled based on output current. Protections: Short circuit, overload, reverse battery connection and over temperature. Includes temperature sensor to prevent under/overcharging of battery if temperature varies extensively
Switch mode technology for high efficiency, lightweight and quiet operation
Automatic operation for ALL Lead Acid Batteries Flooded, AGM or Gel Cell
User Configurable AC Input voltage 120 or 230 VAC, 50 / 60 Hz
User Selectable ( by DIP Switch) for 2 or 3 stage, rapid and safe charging of stand-alone and loaded
“Half Power Mode†reduces maximum charging current to half the rated capacity, allows for safe charg
Samlex America (SEC1250UL) 50 Amp Battery ChargerSamlex America's highest-amp 12V charger that will run on ordinary household current (15A max) offers the following benefits:--requires AC input current of only 10.4A to output a DC current of up to 50A--can handle a battery bank of up to 500Ah--accepts the 900-RC remote (B00HHRVKYO) which means a) in addition to allowing you to turn the charger ON and OFF from a distance of up to 10 meters (33 feet) b) its LEDs will continuously inform you even in darkness which stage of charging the unit is currently in a) Bulk b) Overcharge/Absorption c) Float*--includes a TF-500 temperature sensor for your batteries, so that the charger’s DC output can be adjusted according to the extent that their internal temp is above or below the standard temp of 77F/25C (if a charger cannot compensate for the temp of the batteries, then the batteries may end up either over- or under-charged)--has 4 DIP switches to customize the charger for the type of lead acid battery being charged (AGM/Flooded/Gel), including adjusting the length of time the charger will stay in Stage 2 (4h v. 8h, depending on the type of battery)--DIP switches can also convert the 3-stage charger to 2-stage (skips the Overcharge/Absorption stage) when a) your batteries are being charged while they are powering a load b) you are using the charger as a DC UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)=powering a DC load from the charger with battery backup c) powering 2 separate banks of batteries--auto fan-cooled depending on stage of charging (auto-off when in Float stage)--can be mounted either vertically or horizontally--25A DC output selectable with an exterior button, for charging lower-AH lead acid batteries--includes three pin-style terminal lugs for connecting stranded cables to the charger (can accommodate up to 4AWG stranded cables, which are the recommended size for distances between charger and batteries of 6-10 feet)--multiple protective features, including fuses for both AC input and DC output--auto over-temperature shutdown--selectable input voltages: a) 120VAC@60Hz b) 230VAC@50Hz (latter requires removing the top cover)--exceedingly thorough and well-written documentation, including drawings/figures that describe a) connecting a single battery bank composed of multiple batteries b) connecting two separate battery systems--manufactured in Taiwan--2-year warranty*The FIRST IMAGE depicts from left to right a) Remote Switch (B00HHRVKYO )for my Samlex SEC-1250UL charger (B00H8N9AKS) b) Inverter Remote (B004RCQRZO) for my Samlex SAM-2000-12 MSW inverter (B004RCWYT2 ) c) MT-50 remote monitor (B00SW1ZP2W ) for my HQST 40A solar charge controller (B01B2938BU).The Remote Switch LEDs indicate that the image was made during Stage 2 of charging, which for AGM batteries is a continuous output of 14.4V; the Inverter Remote confirms my battery bank is being fully charged but that the inverter’s Output is only on standby (Fan icon is OFF)**; the MT-50 monitor is confirming 14.4V, which further confirms the SEC-1250UL is at Stage 2 of charging. The reason you want to know the stage of charging is that, if the charger never gets to a Stage 3 Float stage, it means something is awry, which in turn means that your batteries will never become fully charged.**According to Samlex America, when the inverter is on standby the current draw is so small that it does not count as a load, which means no need to adjust the DIP switches to 2-stage charging, which bypasses stage 2.In the SECOND IMAGE, the green LED of the Remote Switch for the charger confirms that Stage 3 was attained despite the Inverter Remote drawing minimal power from the SAM-2000-12 inverter. The MT-50 depicts the following a) no power is coming from the solar panels (moon icon) b) the voltage of my battery bank during the Stage 3 Float stage has dropped from 14.4 during Stage 2 to a fully-charged condition of 13.4V at the current internal temp of my battery bank c) 0.0A are currently, during the Float stage, being inputted into my battery bank d) there is no load drawing from my bank (fluorescent light icon shows 0.0V/0.0A being consumed)
