The book was a fascinating and enjoyable read. It was a quick read and was very easy to digest. It's format was straightforward and its layout facilitated the presentation of the subject in a clinical and no-nonsense manner. The author did not really attempt to sway the reader toward any sort of inference; he just presented the copious information he has compiled and made sure that the reader understands that that people are reporting that they are seeing and encountering some sort of anomalous large black cat in North America. His reports of academics who refuse to assist him was deeply troubling. Isn't science supposed to be about discovery? What are these close-minded academics afraid of? Anyway, I just found the book very readable and I enjoyed it. I guess the only the thing I could say that I found wanting was that I wish the author would have come down hard somewhere on what the source of the sightings is; I wanted to know what he thought exactly and his conclusion at the end seemed a bit tentative and hesitant to stake out a definitive position. I may be misreading that, but that was my assessment. It would have been good to find out what he really thinks is the source. After all, he is quite knowledgeable about it and his informed assessment would have been good to know. Other than that, I really loved this book. Purchase and read it! It's a great book on the subject.
